THE ‘SMASHES’
In the grand tradition of England vs. Australia sporting clashes, the ultimate test of chivalry and skill returns, on horseback! Witness history in the making as Kryal Castle hosts the third and deciding tournament of ‘The Smashes’, a fierce yet friendly jousting battle between the great sporting nations of Australia and England.
The rivalry will reach its dramatic conclusion on Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 March, as three elite English jousters travel 17,000 km, each hauling 50kg of armour, to take on Australia’s finest, including reigning Australian Jousting Champion Renae Marisma.
The victor will claim ‘The Smashes’ Urn - a relic filled with the ashes of a sacrificial lance burned at Arundel Castle in England, now encased in a small gilt urn. The winning nation will hold it until the next battle at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, UK, in 2027.
