LOGISTICS & PLANNING

What are the accommodation options for school camps?

Our on-site Barracks and Suites are purpose-built for school groups, with space for up to 68 students and 4 adults. The Barracks feature bunk-style student rooms and individual rooms with ensuite bathrooms. For larger groups, our Castle Rooms and Cabins expand capacity to 132 students and 14 adults.

Do you cater to dietary requirements?

Yes! Please include any dietary needs on our online form and our chefs will accommodate them. We also offer pre-ordered catering options for morning tea, afternoon tea, lunch, and teacher coffees. Lunch orders must be finalised at least 14 days before your visit.

What are the supervision requirements?

We provide one Castle Facilitator for every 30 students. Schools must also supply at least two staff members to accompany students on all visits. A staff-to-student ratio of 1:20 is required for day visits, and 1:10 for camps.

Do you have first-aid on-site?

Yes, first aid is available on-site, though schools are welcome to bring their own first aid personnel if preferred.

Can you accommodate groups with special needs?

Yes. Please advise our Education Manager of any specific requirements, such as wheelchair access or hearing/vision support, so we can adapt our programs to meet your needs.

What should students wear?

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable, active clothing such as a sports uniform, along with enclosed shoes. Please also dress for the weather, as it can be very cold during winter!

Do you have on-site food and shops?

Catering options are available by pre-order. Please note that if catering isn’t arranged in advance, no food is provided, so students should bring their own. Our Lolly Shop is open for all camps and day visits.

What is the policy for changes and cancellations?

A non-refundable flat deposit of $750 is required to secure day visits, payable within two weeks of receiving the invoice. Changes to group numbers can be made up to two weeks before your visit; after this time, adjustments cannot be accommodated.

Is the Castle accessible?

Yes, the Castle is accessible. Please include any specific accessibility requirements in the ‘Special Requests’ section of our online form.

How do we get to the Castle?

There is no regular public transport. Local buses can provide a specialist service from Ballarat Station by prior arrangement. Ample bus parking is available at the front of the Castle.

What about wet weather?

Activities take place both indoors and outdoors. Our facilitators will adjust locations where possible, but we recommend coming prepared for all weather with suitable clothing.

What if I have a large or small group?

No group is too small, though we do have a maximum capacity. Please indicate your group size in the initial enquiry form.

Can you accommodate our bus driver?

Yes, please inform us during the booking process so we can allocate them a room. We can provide accommodation and meals for the bus driver at the same rate and cost as the rest of your group.
